At Studio 23, we can record up to a 6 piece band simultaneously. There is a drum room adjacent and open to the main recording area and two isolation rooms for guitar amps or other amplified instruments. We can record up to 20 channels at a time. There are 4 independent headphone mixes so each player can hear what he or she wants.
A typical session for a rock band would be, drums, bass records direct, two guitars in isolation rooms, stereo keys, and a vocal reference track. The vocal would be rerecorded afterwards as I do not as of yet have a vocal isolation room (working on it). Then any other overdubs such as guitar leads, vocal harmonies etc.
So, if you wanted to record a 3 song demo, and you can play the songs in 1 or 2 takes, using my drums, you can do the recording in one night or weekend afternoon and I can deliver a finished product generally within 10 days for $350.00. This is about 4 hours of recording time and 10 hours mix/master time. Average cost per hour, $23.00!!! If you need to use another night to do vocal or other overdubs, or want some special effect or midi work in the mix, the extra time would be charged @ $23.00 per hour. Note that when I mixdown and master, I do spend the time to give you the sound you are looking for, not just some quick mix. Each project is professionally mixed with attention to details!!
Because each project is different, prices will be quoted for each project depending on the complexity but you will always get a lot for not much money.
Also, any of my instruments or amps (see appropriate web page) can be used on your project for no charge.
